Lara, Chicken Nuggets of Wisdom

About

Otis Redding, Santana, Billie Holiday, Fleetwood Mac, The Chieftains, Chicago (during the Terry Kath days)...I grew up with this stuff. I was raised at the knee of a musician who coaxed beauty and soul from no less than seven instruments by the time I could walk: my Da. He lived the life, playing session guitar for his classmate Dan fogelberg's Dad and once even sharing a grungy broken down South Chicago stage with the wraith of Chuck Berry. Music was Da's first love, and it became mine.

Sadly, I have no musical talent whatsoever - couldn't carry a tune in a bag! That won't stop me, though. I've followed U2 to seven states and three countries (having four kids didn't slow me down, either - I just caught the 360 Tour.)

My artistic side shows when I'm writing or whipping up a batch of my famous Fleur de Sel Brownies (which are legal, by the way). No matter what I do - music is there. Whether it's a smokin' new shuffle of Indy Blues Rock or my 3 year old singing Weezer songs word for word. Sometimes it's an original tune, music and lyrics composed by my guitar, bass and drum playing 16 year old. The 11 year old sleeps in my old George Straight t-shirt for a little country flair and the 5 year old wants to know if he can be Petey Ramone.

After all, the family that rocks together...
